Start with the room
A fixed desk cannot be adjusted afterwards, so the wall run, the depth and your working height all need to be right before it is made. A desk should fit the way the room is used, not just the empty wall. Work through the full sizing checklist.
Find a comfortable working height
Sit in your normal chair with relaxed shoulders and bent elbows. Measure from the floor to the underside of your elbow; this gives us a useful starting point for the desk height.
Choose how the desk is supported
A metal frame creates a clean open base. A cabinet leg adds concealed storage. An open shelving leg keeps books, decor or a computer tower accessible. We will plan the support around legroom and load.
Place accessories with purpose
Monitor risers, drawers, grommets and cable trays should be located around your reach, chair movement and sockets. Decide these before the top is made so the details feel integrated.
